cover art for my upcoming single Bronco. artist- joel jimenez jr. @taijitunes

Ryan La, a highly cherished artist + friend of mine handed over a strikingly full instrumental in which he produced. This happened sometime in February. Despite the constant limbo/upheaval 2020 has brought mine + everyone else’s direction, a period of creation that I wont ever forget was brought, too. Bronco became a song and a feeling so quickly it watered my eyes. Between everyone’s unique setbacks and unhinged creativity, a vibrant and dynamic visual came to life throughout the months of April and May to accompany the tune.

It feels uncomfortable and confusing to release art that has no real political or idealogical connection to what is unfolding right now. Putting this video and song in to the world at this time is fueled only by moving attention back to what’s most important. With that being said, the cover art printed bandanas we sold financially aided our protestors on the ground right now. If you were one of the 30 that bought a bandana, you will receive a link in your email to view the official music video early, and privately. %100 of the bandana proceeds went directly to these funds. That’s $360.00 we raised together!! Bail funds in Kentucky and Portland received one third of the 360. The final third of the money was donated to Assata’s Daughters. I linked the organization below in case you’d like to learn more or donate directly. I chose Assata’s Daughters because the Chicago protestor bail fund is over five million dollars at this time. This Black Femme led group is doing phenomenal work, and I look forward to supporting them beyond this moment. The civil unrest is only just beginning.

Below, be sure sure to enjoy an array of unreleased stills Annie Kathryn Brown and myself went in on one sunny day in the burbs.
